WAVER ARMCHAIR BY KONSTANTIN GRCIC FOR VITRA

A cabinet maker by training, Konstantin Grcic also studied design at the Royal College of Art in London before opening his design studio Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design (KGID) in Munich where he creates products, furniture and lighting. The Waver armchair arose from a wish to overcome the conventional codes and lines applied to the creation of this type of furniture. Inspired by the materials and principles of construction of outdoor sports structures, Waver offers the same comfort as classic upholstered furniture. The lively coloured fabrics and the highlighting of functional and connecting elements give it a sporty look.

SCHWOP! CERAMICS – DESIGN
14.4.2012 > 19.5.2012
To mark Design City 2012, the concept store of the Lucien Schweitzer Gallery, better known by the pseudonym schwop!, is presenting a ceramics show which includes a preview of “The Pleat Box collection” by Xavier Mañosa and Mashallah for Marset, a series of suspensions in ceramic the form of which suggests the softness of pleated fabric. Softness is also the order of the day for Violaine Ulmer’s porcelaine and metal incrusted jewels. It is a question of fine porcelaine for Roos Van of Velde, a Belgian artist whose creations are distinguished by their imperfect beauty. “Ruth M” is the name of the collection with retro motifs by Danish designer Anne Black. It is also an opportunity to show the work of Christophe and Aylin de la Fontaine arising from a collaboration with the manufacturers Rosenthal and the Lucien Schweitzer Gallery. Concluding with a touch of offbeat humour in the objects by the Dutch manufacturer Pols Potten.
